During my experimental work I chose to take photographs of ink in water as I believe it can signify mental health problems through the lack of control you have of the ink. The ink also looks like chemical processes linking to the synaptic transmissions that is often used as a biological explanation for many mental health illnesses.
I like the gradience of the orange as it spreads out towards the bottom of the tank. I think that it is effective in showing how mental health issues can not only intensely effect the specific person with a mental illness but they can also effect the people around them.
I think this photo is effective because the black ink could be seen as a metaphor for mental illnesses and the coloured ink could signify the happiness which is often sucked away from someone who suffers with a mental health problem. The black seems to take over the photograph similarly to how sadness can often overwhelm a sufferer of mental health.
