I decided to do some experimental work using photoshop to change the images in different ways.
When doing this for my anorexia photos, I thought about how people with anorexia see their bodies differently to have it actually looks. This is also the key symptom in body dysmorphia. I chose to distort each image in a different way, showing their image distortion. I think this was effective as it shows the extremes of anorexia.
I chose to do more subtle changes in the schizophrenia photographs as mental illnesses can often be kept hidden for a long time. In the first photograph, I edited the main model to black and white using a low saturation. I think this is effective as it looks as though she has had the life sucked out of her. In the second photograph, I chose to add a slight distortion but so you can still gain a clear understanding from the photograph.
For the OCD photographs, I chose to add 'noise' to show how constant the disorder is as a sufferer is haunted by their obsessions and compulsions. I think the editing is effective as it covers the whole photo, similar to how someone with OCD has their whole world taken over by the disorder.
